Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse - Surgery for the evening shift. The role focuses on planning and delivering care using the nursing process, with collaboration with the surgical team and pre-op assessments.

You will scrub and circulate, monitor vitals, and educate patients and families while planning the continuum of care. Requires RN licensure, BLS, and 1 year surgical experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a basic professional nursing degree and plan to obtain BSN/MSN within a specified time.
• Current RN licensure by Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver patient care using the nursing process for surgical patients.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to create individualized care plans.
• Perform pre-operative assessments including histories and physicals.
• Scrub functions: instrument handling during procedures.
• Circulating functions: monitor and communicate patient condition.
• Monitor vitals and ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Assist with specimen collection, processing and documentation.
• Educate patients and families; plan continuum of care.
