Job summary

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of experience preferred.
• Valid LVN license and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Talk to surgeons to understand needs and prepare instruments.
• Prepare and clean the operation site per protocol.
• Organize instrument tables to prevent damage and ensure correct counts.
• Check functionality of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Count sponges, sharps, and tools during surgery per protocol.
• Anticipate needs of the surgeon and team during procedures.
• Assist with draping and patient positioning.
• Handle surgical specimens and deliver to circulating nurse.
• Apply dressings after surgery.
• Clean and decontaminate instruments and prepare for reuse.
• Maintain sterile environment and comply with regulatory norms.
• Ensure orientation with tools and equipment prior to patient use.
