Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/ equivalent.
• Two (2) years of medical office experience (preferred).
• HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Surgery scheduling and patient documentation responsibilities.
• Reception, check-in/check-out duties on a rotational basis.

Responsibilities

• Handle reception duties, check-in/out and surgery scheduling on a rotational basis.
• Enter patient demographics and insurance data into the system.
• Coordinate preoperative and postoperative testing and documentation.
• Communicate with patients about financial requirements and consent.
• Obtain referrals and insurance authorizations for surgery.
• Answer calls, triage inquiries and manage medical records requests.
• Maintain organized patient files in the electronic health record.
