Job summary

Minnesota Oncology is seeking an organized Surgical Scheduling Coordinator to manage internal surgery scheduling from physician orders and coordinate OR blocks, anesthesia, and staff for procedures.

You will obtain pre-operative information, secure insurance authorization, and communicate clear prep instructions to patients while supporting junior staff and maintaining compliant charting and reporting.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of Surgical practice/office work experience including work in insurance authorization, insurance verification and/or scheduling with ability to explain patient responsibility in accordance with their benefits plan (as applicable).
• Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology required.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to multitask.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule OR blocks and coordinate pre/post-op tasks.
• Coordinate tasks associated with case scheduling and required pre-surgery tasks.
• Review patient medications and health history for surgical clearance.
• Obtain insurance authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.
• Communicate surgical information and prep details to patients.
• Support training and supervision of junior staff.
• Ensure reports are captured in charts and compliance requirements.
