Job summary

VSP Vision is seeking an experienced Surgery Center Scheduler to coordinate and schedule surgical cases and procedures. The role reports to the Center Director/Lead Nurse and involves ensuring accurate patient charts, coordinating with multiple departments, and maintaining patient privacy.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of scheduling experience, a medical background, and strong verbal/clerical skills.

Qualifications

• At least one year experience as a scheduler preferred.
• Medical background knowledge is preferred.
• Verbal ability is required to comprehend instructions.
• Clerical ability required to avoid errors on patient forms.
• Tact and understanding needed when dealing with surgeons and staff.
• Ability to evaluate information against criteria when interviewing patients.
• Demonstrates interest in patient/family and privacy.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgery patients at the Center according to policies and procedures.
• Schedule/register patients in NextGen at least one month in advance, ensuring complete insurance and procedure info.
• Cancel procedures in the system and track trends.
• Ensure H&P, labs, clearances, pathology, EKGs are in charts prior to surgery.
• Compare schedule to charts to ensure all patients are captured.
• Handle all surgery-related calls.
• Collect data for Patient Satisfaction Survey and report findings.
• Order all surgery-related chart supplies.
• Distribute next day schedules to departments.
• Advise nursing about special needs or accommodations.
• Perform other related duties for efficient operation.
