Qualifications

• One year of scheduling experience preferred.
• On-the-job training of 1–3 months to reach proficiency.
• Good verbal ability to understand written instructions and forms.
• Strong clerical skills to complete patient forms accurately.
• Tact when dealing with surgeons and staff to admit patients.
• Ability to evaluate information against criteria during patient interviews.
• Demonstrates interest in patient/family as individuals and maintains privacy.
• Promotes cooperation between clinical and operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Schedules surgery patients at the Center per policies.
• Registers surgery patients at least one month in advance in NextGen with complete insurance/procedure data.
• Cancels surgery procedures in the system and tracks trends.
• Ensures charts include H&Ps, labs, clearances, and pathology before surgery.
• Compares schedule to charts to ensure all patients are captured.
• Handles all surgery-related calls.
• Collects data for Patient Satisfaction Survey and reports findings monthly.
• Orders surgery chart supplies.
• Distributes schedules for the next day to departments.
• Advises nursing on special needs and accommodations.
• Performs other duties to support efficient Center operations.
