Job summary

Hayes Valley Surgery Center is a modern outpatient surgery facility in San Francisco seeking a Surgery Scheduler/Insurance Verification Specialist. You will manage front desk operations, greet patients and staff, perform insurance verifications, and enter data in the EMR system.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and familiarity with insurance plans. Candidates should be comfortable coordinating with anesthesia and clinical staff while maintaining a welcoming office

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year experience in insurance verification.
• 1+ year experience in a medical office setting.
• Current Basic Life Support certification or willingness to complete by start date.

Responsibilities

• Open the Front Office before first patient check-ins.
• Welcome patients, families, physicians, and visitors to the center.
• Pre-registration and registration of patients in the EMR system.
• Complete insurance verifications.
• Notify patients of insurance coverage and copay/coinsurance responsibilities.
• Answer and direct phone calls, and handle mail and messages for the business office.
• Prepare patient documents.
• Accept and post payments.
• Coordinate with anesthesia group and understand procedure lengths and room availability.
• Maintain Front Desk area.
• Other duties as assigned.
