Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years previous surgery scheduling experience in a health care environment is required.
• Experience in customer service is desirable.
• Hospital registration or admitting experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical diagnostic procedures, and health care billing and authorization is required.
• Must be able to type 40+ wpm (without error).
• Strong computer skills. Familiar with Excel, Word, Windows.
• Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.
• Must be able to multitask.
• Must be highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization and organization.
• Knowledge of HIPAA/Confidentiality.
• Must establish and maintain constructive working relationships with patients, patient family members, coworkers, supervisors, managers, doctors, and any other contacts made during the course of conducting business.

Responsibilities

• Schedules surgery procedures using EMR
• Answers the phones in a professional and courteous manner
• Completes post-op data entry in a timely and accurate manner
• Completes statistical reports per established timeline and format
• Posts surgical charges on a daily basis per established guidelines
• Completes daily surgical schedule and distributes as appropriate
• Produces and distributes daily surgical log
• Assures appropriate coordination with other practice / hospital departments when special surgical needs occur
• Other duties as assigned
