Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Attendance and punctuality are essential.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

• Schedule all outpatient surgeries and procedures as requested by physicians or staff.
• Enter patient demographics and insurance information into the billing system.
• Contact payers to verify benefits and obtain authorization.
• Coordinate with Nursing Director to ensure equipment and staff availability.
• Prepare and distribute daily surgery schedule to Nursing Managers, RNs, Pre-Op and PACU staff and others.
• Capture complete clinical, demographic and insurance information for scheduled patients.
• Communicate potential scheduling conflicts to Nursing Director.
• Notify appropriate staff of any patient issues.
• Maintain positive communications with medical staff and office personnel.
• Track cancellations and manage block time.
• Prepare daily bank deposits for monies received.
• Cross-train to cover front desk and other duties as needed.
• Perform other clerical duties as directed by the Business Office Manager.
