Qualifications

• High School/GED with completion of Medical Terminology preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Ward Secretary experience in an acute hospital setting is desirable.
• Must have computer skills/ understanding of Excel/ Microsoft Word, ability to run graphs as requested.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the surgical schedule through accurate data entry, coordination with clinical teams, and timely communication of changes.
• Provide control-desk support by answering calls, relaying messages, and facilitating communication between the operating room, providers, and support departments.
• Perform clerical tasks such as preparing documents, managing requisitions, organizing records, and supporting departmental reporting needs.
• Greet and assist staff, providers, and visitors, ensuring courteous, professional communication in all interactions.
• Compile and distribute daily information needed by operating room teams, including updates to case logs or workflow changes.
• Assist with special projects and administrative functions that support overall efficiency and quality within the surgical department.
