Qualifications

• Current certification as CSFA/CSTFA or SA-C from NBSTSA/ABSA/NSAA.
• Accredited surgical first assisting program completion or U.S. Armed Forces surgical assistant training.
• At least 1,300 hours of surgical assistant experience under a licensed physician.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, equipment, and instruments for surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeons intraoperatively by providing exposure, controlling bleeding, handling tissue, suturing, and instrument positioning.
• Collaborate with nursing and surgical teams to support patient positioning and case progression.
• Monitor and maintain instrument function and ensure proper cleaning and care of equipment.
• Document information and communicate with surgeons and staff to promote safety and efficiency.
• Participate in competency development and quality initiatives in perioperative care.
