Job summary

VOA Northern California & Northern Nevada is hiring full-time Support Staff for the Veteran Grant Per Diem program at the Mather Community Campus. Responsibilities include guiding residents, safety checks, crisis de-escalation, and maintaining program records.

You will support plan implementation, assist with program development, and model professional behavior while ensuring compassionate, non-judgmental service.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions.
• Experience serving clients facing homelessness, substance use, and disabilities.
• CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of employment; re-certification as needed.

Responsibilities

• Explain program rules to residents and enforce observance.
• Coordinate meal prep, bed assignments, showers, and daily routines.
• Provide awake shift coverage and conduct hourly safety checks.
• De-escalate crises and provide emergency assistance as needed.
• Maintain daily reports and program logs; ensure health/sanitation standards.
• Perform housekeeping and maintenance tasks and keep staff areas clean.
• Answer resident questions and maintain clear communication with residents.
• Carry out clerical duties: phones, messages, filing.
• Collaborate with Program Manager and external representatives as required.
• Assist in training new staff and participate in program development.
