Job summary

Nordstrom Inc. is seeking an Engineer 2 to join the MISC team, sitting within Supply Chain, to support the integration between WMS and MHE. This hybrid Seattle role requires in-office presence at Nordstrom HQ at least 4 days/week.

You will design and develop scalable software solutions, contribute to modern development practices, and work collaboratively across teams to deliver high-quality releases in a fast-moving, fashion-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent degree required.
• Experience analyzing, designing, coding, testing, installing and maintaining complex software programs.
• Knowledge of Java and Java Springboot framework.
• Knowledge of other programming languages (like Python, React, JavaScript, C#) is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and a strong point of view on how agents can accelerate design, coding, and testing workflows.
• A strong desire to automate everything.
• Strong grasp of multiple tech stacks.
• Experience with Backend Database (preferably Spanner) or NoSQL or Postgres databases.
• Experience with RESTful architecture and Microservices.
• Experience with Amazon AWS/GCP is required.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker) and modern development practices and development lifecycle using Scrum, Kanban or other agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and testing tools.
• Familiarity with messaging middleware (Kafka, SQS).
• Experience with writing services as well as consuming services using REST, SOAP, XML, JSON or any combination.
• Emphasis on building metrics into the system and providing visibility on uptime and performance via real time alerting, reporting, and dashboards.
• Experience working with diverse, collaborative, cross-functional teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to persuade inspire and motivate others.

Responsibilities

• Design & develop innovative solutions to drive Nordstrom business.
• Write clean, scalable, reliable code for production systems.
• Contribute to CI/CD, cloud migration and test-driven development.
• Work with defect tracking, source control and release systems.
• Assist in peer code reviews and provide feedback.
• Participate in SCRUM team design and development process.
• Support production deployments and incident response.
• Assist in planning high-level software strategies and solutions.
