Job summary

Nordstrom is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to build core capabilities for the Inventory Positioning Engine, optimizing inventory placement across the fulfillment network.

You will lead solution-level design, drive technical decisions, and ensure quality and reliability across engineering teams. You will design and implement real-time pipelines for allocation, returns, and inventory management, owning end-to-end delivery and system integration.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, databases, RESTful services, event-driven architectures, and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP)
• Knowledge of containerization, CI/CD, testing, agile practices, OO design, and common design patterns
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with focus on operational excellence and customer impact

Responsibilities

• Design and build real-time inventory positioning pipelines and capabilities for allocation, returns, and inventory management
• Own end-to-end implementation and system integration, and analyze complex inventory state problems
• Improve automation, production reliability, monitoring, security, and performance
• Review designs and code, mentor engineers, document processes, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute to interviews
• Collaborate with business, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver enhancements and resolve production issues
