Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Schodack Landing, NY seeks a Manager Trainee to learn and manage a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, ensuring safe, timely freight movement and top-notch customer service.

The program trains you to ensure DOT compliance, oversee drivers’ compliance, and coordinate with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight and loads, building a solid foundation for leadership in transportation logistics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, or related field; or 1 year management experience with HS diploma.
• Willing to travel to account and company events.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends and relocate regionally.
• Experience managing a team preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and outside carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and assist on projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Learn to train drivers and staff and use customer systems.
• Help maximize fleet efficiency and profitability and present reporting and analysis to customers.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Learn admin duties including payroll, budgets, invoicing, and reports.
• Assist with yard operations, maintenance scheduling, and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve issues and plan routes.
• Support safety culture through driver messages and trainings.
• Plan loads and routes to ensure on-time service and meet customer needs.
