Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends.

You will ensure safe, timely freight movement, handle load assignments, and provide exemplary customer service while training for DOT compliance and driver regulation oversight. This role involves developing leadership skills, coordinating with drivers and external carriers, and performing administrative duties related to payroll,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
• Alternatively, a High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and outside carriers to set up new carriers and maximize productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to manage driver training, orientation, and internal/customer systems.
• Improve fleet efficiency, analyze KPIs, and present customer reporting and financial analyses.
• Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Perform payroll, budget management, driver counseling, payroll/pay issue resolution, and reporting.
• Manage yard operations: equipment checks, repairs, maintenance scheduling, and safety fixes.
• Coordinate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and routing problems.
• Maintain safety culture through driver safety messages, training, and policy enforcement.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
