Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Indianapolis seeks a Manager Trainee, May 2027, to learn management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts while ensuring safe, timely freight movement and compliance with DOT regulations.

Training covers load planning, driver compliance, and strong customer service with internal and external contacts. The role focuses on developing leadership, fleet optimization, and earnings potential, with cross-functional exposure and progression toward management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, or related field OR 1 year of management/transportation experience.
• Willing to travel to account locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate based on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build relationships with drivers and carriers to ensure seamless carrier setup.
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Learn personnel management, training, and orientation of drivers and staff.
• Make recommendations to improve efficiency and present customer-specific reporting.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Plan loads, route freight, monitor delivery to meet customer requirements.
