Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer based in Normal, IL to partner with cross-functional teams and manage contract manufacturers for quality performance. You will ensure seamless scaling of production, drive PPAP readiness, and monitor KPIs to secure robust supplier readiness for new programs and ongoing services.

The role requires 1–5+ years in supplier quality, strong APQP/PPAP/FMEA/CAPA expertise, and automotive manufacturing knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
• 1+–5+ years supplier quality engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, CAPA, Lean and traceability.
• Technical expertise of automotive component designs and manufacturing.
• Knowledge of GD&T and datum structures.
• Experience in extrusion and fabrication commodities.
• VDA 6.3 credentials preferred.
• IATF16949:2016 and ISO14001/ISO9001 knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage with suppliers for industrialization and readiness for automotive components.
• Support supplier selection and capability assessment for greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Drive APQP discipline and enforce PPAP requirements for production approval.
• Develop and track industrialization KPIs including PPAP on-time approval and first-pass yield.
• Evaluate supplier processes via audits, PFMEA reviews, and control plan validation.
• Optimize supplier manufacturing scalability to meet ramp-up demand.
• Monitor performance with KPIs: on-time PPAP, CPk/Ppk, defect rates, and corrective actions.
• Facilitate problem resolution using focused problem solving.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supply chain to VA/VE cost optimize while maintaining quality.
• Up to 50% travel requirement.
