Day & Zimmermann in Hawthorne, NV, seeks an experienced Supervisor, UXO to oversee ordnance clearance, UXO assessment, demilitarization, disposal, and destructive testing on site at Hawthorne Army Depot.

This role requires leadership and 8+ years in EOD/UXO, with the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance. You will direct UXO personnel, ensure safety, document procedures, and respond to ammunition incidents to support safe remediation.

Qualifications

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Supervisor, UXO .

The Supervisor, UXO supervises ordnance clearance response, UXO assessment, demilitarization, disposal, and destructive testing activities at Hawthorne Army Depot. This job provides technical support to Munitions and Logistics and Demil Operations, directs assigned UXO personnel, and responds to ammunition and explosives incidents to support safe, compliant remediation .

Position may require security clearance, consistent with contract requirements and government approval. U.S. or Naturalized citizenship is required.

This position is located on site in Hawthorne, NV.

As the Supervisor, UXO , here’s the work you’ll do:

• Supervise UXO reconnaissance, location, recovery, classification, identification, and disposal activities for military UXO, hazardous ordnance items, inert ordnance residue, and range clearance sweeps. Direct visual and electronic location of surface and subsurface UXO and oversee excavation and recovery activities for disposal purposes.
• Supervise segregation of scrap ordnance residue from ordnance items deemed hazardous and oversee safe disposal of propellants, ammunition, and related components by burning or detonation. Determine appropriate methods, procedures, processes, and demolition material requirements to support safe and efficient disposal.
• Prepare and maintain Standing Operating Procedures, status reports, technical reports, annual clearance sweep plans, project documentation, and related information required to support UXO and demilitarization operations
• Train Munitions Destroyers, UXO personnel, and other assigned employees in range safety, operational procedures, demolition techniques, hazardous materials handling, and safe work practices
• Provide UXO Safety Observer and escort services for non-ordnance qualified personnel working in areas with suspected UXO or ordnance hazards. Respond to ammunition and explosives incidents across the Depot and provide assessment, control, and remediation support when appropriate.
• aintain compliance with applicable federal, state, local, Company, and governmental requirements. Report actual or potential safety and environmental concerns and reinforce ethical standards, Company values, and safe performance of assigned work .

This role is for you if you have these skills:

• Knowledge of demilitarization, disposal, destructive testing, and UXO operations sufficient to direct work in accordance with applicable federal, state, local, Company, and governmental requirements.
• UXO technical capability sufficient to locate, recover, classify, identify, and dispose of military UXO, conduct range clearance sweeps, and respond to ammunition and explosives incidents.
• Leadership capability sufficient to supervise assigned UXO personnel, train employees in safe procedures, and reinforce safe, compliant execution of field activities.
• Demolition and disposal planning capability sufficient to determine safe disposal methods, required demolition materials, quantities, and operational controls for munitions items and components.
• Technical documentation capability sufficient to prepare SOPs, status reports, technical reports, annual clearance sweep plans, and other required project records.
• Communication and judgment capability sufficient to coordinate with management, agencies, and field personnel while exercising appropriate discretion in safety-sensitive situations

And if you have these qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Certified EOD/UXO qualification or equivalent in accordance with DDESB TP-18 required.
• 8 years+ explosives ordnance disposal, UXO operations, munitions disposal, or related experience, including supervisory experience
• Certified EOD/UXO in accordance with DDESB TP-18 required. Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications outlined in the Company Master Training Plan
• State Blaster license and UXO database registration and number required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada driver’s license, the appropriate level of government security clearance, and clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
• Must be able to perform safety-sensitive duties in a safe and effective manner while remaining alert and aware of potential work and safety hazards .

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the hourly pay range for this role is $67,200- $100,800. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
