Position Summary
The Operations Supervisor oversees labor management and planning for inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities. Responsibilities include scheduling labor, managing space utilization, and ensuring equipment and manpower are used efficiently. The role involves hiring, training, performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the supervisor manages the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of products in line with company service and cost objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct staff meetings to review daily and weekly work activities, planning, and continuous improvement.
- Provide timely updates to senior management and client representatives on critical operational issues.
- Develop and maintain systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably, in compliance with company policies.
- Implement cost‑saving measures and report on progress.
- Meet client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
- Apply sound communication and motivational techniques to supervise, counsel, and discipline team members.
- Assist in hiring, training, and professional development of staff.
- Plan daily work schedules by reviewing existing orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions.
- Analyze pending jobs, reorganize warehouse space, and adjust staffing or supplies as needed.
- Train new staff and assess trainee progress.
- Maintain awareness of job quantity and quality, providing guidance as needed.
- Assign supervisory duties to experienced staff acting as leads.
- Keep the manager informed of daily progress and issues.
- Assist with physical operations as required.
- Deliver results by utilizing the right people at the right time.
- Maintain high team motivation to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Provide growth and development opportunities for team members.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and support SOP compliance.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of experience in a logistics, distribution, or related environment.
- One year of supervisory experience.
- Preferred: MHE certification or basic MHE operation knowledge.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Completion of a forklift training program.
Computer Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with RF scanners.
- Knowledge of WMS functions.
Language Skills
- English – reading, writing, verbal.
- Business communication proficiency.
Mathematical Skills
- Basic to intermediate level for verifying product quantities, counting inventory, and other related tasks.

Work Environment
The work environment is generally low to moderate in noise level, with rare exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals.

Compensation
Expected base pay: $62,500 – $75,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors such as experience, education, certifications, and location.
