Job summary

DSV – Global Transport and Logistics seeks an Operations Supervisor to lead receiving, warehousing, and shipping within our distribution center. You will supervise staff, manage labor and space utilization, plan equipment and manpower, and ensure safety, quality and cost objectives are met.

Responsibilities include staff development, training, and performance evaluations, with focus on client KPIs and SOP adherence. Nights/weekends flexibility and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Minimum 3 years in a logistics/distribution environment.
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: MHE certification or basic MHE operation knowledge.
  • Forklift training program completion.

  • Supervise staff and provide training and HR support as needed.
  • Plan daily work schedules based on orders, arrivals, and customer instructions.
  • Maintain safety, quality and cost objectives while driving continuous improvement.
  • Ensure KPI targets are met and SOPs are followed.

Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor leads the receiving, warehousing, and shipping functions of the distribution center. Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing labor and space utilization, scheduling equipment and manpower, hiring and training personnel, conducting performance appraisals, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality and cost objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct staff meetings to review work activities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues.
  • Develop and enforce systems and procedures for safe, profitable operations that meet productivity and service goals.
  • Implement cost‑saving measures and propose efficiency enhancements.
  • Meet client‑specified KPI’s and comply with the Quality system requirements.
  • Lead and motivate the team, create fair and equitable supervision programs, and provide HR support as needed.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and professional development; participate in performance evaluation and promotion recommendations.
  • Train new staff and monitor progress of trainees.
  • Plan daily work schedules based on orders, arrivals, and customer instructions.
  • Review pending jobs, reorder warehouse space, and adjust staffing or supplies accordingly.
  • Provide guidance throughout the day to ensure quantity and quality of work.
  • Assign supervisory duties to team members and monitor progress.
  • Keep the manager advised of daily progress and issues; hold regular meetings to discuss improvements.
  • Assist in physical operations as needed; deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time.
  • Maintain high motivation and focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Provide growth and development opportunities for team members.
  • Support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both corporate and client requirements.
  • Help train team members on SOPs.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Minimum 3 years in a logistics/distribution environment.
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: MHE certification or basic MHE operation knowledge.
  • Forklift training program completion.
Computer Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with RF scanners.
  • Knowledge of WMS functions.
Language Requirements
  • English – reading, writing, verbal.
  • Business communication proficiency.
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic to intermediate ability to verify quantities, count inventory, and perform related duties.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range: $69,696 – $87,120, with final compensation based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Benefits, eligibility, and plan details are available through the DSV Benefits Showcase and vary by location and division.
