Job summary

Qualifications

  • Forklift training/ MHE operation knowledge is preferred.

Job description

Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities on a daily basis. This includes labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower management. People‑management duties encompass hiring and training, assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems. Under direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor oversees receiving, warehousing, and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly activities, plan, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues affecting operations.
  • Develop and maintain systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably in accordance with company policies and client agreements.
  • Implement and report on ongoing cost‑saving measures; provide ideas for more efficient operations.
  • Meet all client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
  • Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create fair supervisory programs, and discipline team members when necessary.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to create hiring, training, and professional development programs.
  • Record supervision responsibilities for warehouse staff and contribute to performance evaluation systems.
  • Plan daily work schedules by reviewing orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions; prioritize tasks and assign duties to staff.
  • Analyze pending jobs, reorganize warehouse space, and adjust staffing or supply levels as needed.
  • Train new staff or delegate training; assess trainee progress and add duties appropriately.
  • Monitor quantity and quality of jobs performed throughout the day; provide guidance as necessary.
  • Assign lead roles to experienced team members and keep the manager updated on progress or problems.
  • Hold regular meetings with warehouse staff to review status and solicit improvement ideas.
  • Assist with physical operations as required.
  • Leverage the right people at the right time to deliver results.
  • Maintain high motivation levels among team members to deliver customer satisfaction.
  • Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for team members and present input.
  • Support adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for both corporate and client requirements.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a logistics, distribution, or related environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: Prior MHE certification or basic MHE operation knowledge.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
  • Completed forklift training program.
Computer Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with RF scanners.
  • Knowledge of WMS functions.
Language Skills
  • Business communication proficiency.
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic to intermediate level for verifying product quantities, counting inventory, and other related duties.

  • Strong attention to detail and timely completion of tasks.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected base pay range: $65,000 – $70,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors including experience, skills, education or certifications, and geographic location in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
