Job Title: Operations Supervisor

Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products consistent with company service and cost objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect the operations.
  • Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably, in accordance with company policies and client agreements.
  • Implement and report ongoing cost savings measures and suggest more efficient operations.
  • Meet all client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
  • Manage operations to achieve prescribed objectives, applying sound communication and motivational techniques.
  • Assist in creating programs for hiring, training, and professional development; participate in performance evaluation system for promotions and wage increases.
  • Have overall training and evaluation responsibilities of warehouse staff.
  • Plan the daily work schedule by reviewing existing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions.
  • Review pending jobs or trends, plan for reorganization of warehouse space, and adjust levels of supplies, equipment, or staffing accordingly.
  • Train new staff or delegate training responsibilities to experienced team members.
  • Monitor quantity and quality of jobs performed throughout the day, providing guidance and advice as needed.
  • Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members acting as leads for lower-level staff.
  • Keep Manager advised of progress or problems requiring attention on a daily basis; hold regular meetings with staff to assess status and discuss improvement ideas.
  • Assist in physical operations as needed.
  • Deliver results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time.
  • Maintain high motivation among team members to provide customer satisfaction.
  • Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.
  • Provide input and conduct annual performance reviews for team members.
  • Support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment.
  • 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Preferred: Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation.
Certificates, Licenses, and Professional Designations
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.
Computer Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with RF scanners and WMS functions.
Language Skills
  • English (reading, writing, verbal).
  • Business communication.
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic to intermediate level for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and other related duties.
Other Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with timely completion.

Work Environment
