Supervisor – Logistics Operations

Location: USA - Chantilly, John Mosby Hwy

Division: Solutions Time Type: Full Time

Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
  • Effectively keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect operations.
  • Ensure development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner per company policies.
  • Implement and report on‑going cost savings measures and provide ideas for more efficient operations.
  • Meet all client‑specified KPI’s and comply with quality system requirements.
  • Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create programs to fairly and equitably supervise, counsel, and (where needed) discipline team members.
  • Provide direction and support to Human Resources and assist in hiring, training, and professional development programs.
  • Participate in performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities.
  • Have overall training and evaluation responsibilities of warehouse staff.
  • Plan the daily work schedule by reviewing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions.
  • Review pending jobs or trends, plan for reorganization of warehouse space, and adjust supplies, equipment, or staffing needs.
  • Train new staff in assigned duties or delegate training responsibilities to experienced members.
  • Keep informed of quantity and quality of jobs being performed and provide guidance as necessary.
  • Assign supervisory duties to senior staff acting as leads for lower‑level warehouse staff.
  • Mentor staff; keep manager advised of progress or problems requiring attention daily.
  • Hold regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess group status and discuss improvement ideas.
  • Assist in physical operations as needed.
  • Deliver results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time.
  • Maintain high motivation to provide highest levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.
  • Provide input and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Train team members on SOPs (corporate and client).
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 3 years experience in logistics/distribution/related environment.
  • 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: Prior MHE certification / knowledge of basic MHE operation.
Certificates, Licenses & Registration
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.
Computer Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Experience with RF scanners.
  • WMS functions.
Language Skills
  • English reading, writing, verbal.
  • Business communication.
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities, count inventory, or perform other duties associated with handling, storing and distributing client products.
Other Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
  • Good organizational and personnel skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends as required.

  • Work in unregulated temperatures; warehouse environment can range from mild to moderate.
Physical Demands

Occasionally bending, frequently walking and standing, constantly sitting; ability to lift/carry and push/pull 11‑20 pounds; reach above shoulder, squat, or kneel.

Work Environment

Performing duties, employee rarely exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level usually low to moderate.

Compensation

Expected base pay range: $65,000 - $70,000 (annual). Compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
