POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.

As part of the DSV team, associates are expected to meet company objectives in the areas of performance, safety, and quality, and comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies. Flexibility with time is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect operations.
  • Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably in accordance with company policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals.
  • Implement and report on ongoing cost savings measures; provide ideas for more efficient operations.
  • Meet all client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
  • Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create fair and equitable supervisory programs, counsel, and discipline team members as needed.
  • Provide direction and support to Human Resources; assist in hiring, training, and professional development programs; participate in performance evaluation system for promotions and other HR activities.
  • Oversee overall training and evaluation responsibilities of warehouse staff.
  • Plan daily work schedules by reviewing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions; assess priorities and allocate duties to staff.
  • Review pending jobs or trends, plan reorganization of warehouse space, and adjust supply, equipment or staffing levels.
  • Train new staff or delegate training; assess progress and add duties as appropriate.
  • Monitor quantity and quality of work performed and provide guidance as necessary.
  • Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members acting as leads.
  • Keep manager advised of progress or problems requiring attention daily; hold regular meetings to discuss improvements and inform staff of new developments.
  • Assist in physical operations as needed; deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time.
  • Maintain high motivation in team members to focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Provide growth and development opportunities; conduct annual performance reviews; support and train teams with SOP adherence.
SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of experience in logistics/distribution or relevant environment.
  • 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations:

  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • RF scanners.
  • WMS functions.

Language Skills:

  • English (reading, writing, verbal).
  • Business communication.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Basic to intermediate level for verifying product quantities, counting inventory, or performing other related duties.

Other Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; timely completion of tasks.
  • Good organizational and personnel skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Leadership, supervision, and planning abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.

Compensation

The expected base pay range is $62,500.00 – $75,000.00 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.
