Job summary

Basin Electric Power Cooperative is seeking a STUDENT INTERN - SAFETY (DGC) for the Dakota Gasification Company site in Beulah, ND. This summer internship runs roughly May 17, 2027 through August 20, 2027, with responsibilities spanning compliance, safety programs, and training development.

Applicants must be enrolled in a four-year OSH/Industrial Hygiene program with Sophomore year completed, maintain 2.5 GPA, and possess a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related program with Sophomore year completed.
• Transcript required at time of application; GPA minimum 2.5.

Responsibilities

• Support Compliance, Safety and Industrial Hygiene programs to ensure regulatory compliance and improve performance.
• Develop knowledge of local, state, and federal EH&S regulations.
• Conduct Continuous Improvement Observations and follow-up actions.
• Perform industrial hygiene surveys to evaluate exposure to chemicals and physical agents.
• Advise on protective equipment selection and use.
• Assist in developing and presenting safety training for all employees.
• Support investigations of basic accidents and prepare internal reports for corrective action.
• Develop SDSs and SDS database administration.
• Maintain regulatory records management tools and procedures.
• Assist in managing and administering various safety programs.
• Support Family Night event, including setup, participation, and cleanup.
