Job summary

New Jersey Institute of Technology is seeking a Pre-College Hourly Teaching Assistant to support students in summer programs run by the Center for Pre-College Programs. The role requires college enrollment for Fall 2026 and a GPA of 3.0 or higher, with full availability for Summer 2026 activities.

You will assist instructors in math, communications, computer science, and engineering, supervise groups of up to 24 students, and help assess progress while modeling exemplary behavior.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in college for Fall 2026 with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
• GPA 3.0+ is required or preferred.
• Interest in math, computing, and engineering fields.
• Experience with elementary to high school students is preferred.
• Willingness to supervise students on campus and on field trips.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a group of up to 24 students on campus and during field trips.
• Assist instructors with activities in mathematics, communications, computer science, and engineering.
• Model positive behavior and monitor student conduct.
• Assist teachers in assessing student progress toward learning goals.
• Build positive relationships with students as a mentor.

Education

Enrolled in college for Fall 2026

GPA 3.0+

Strong interest in math/computing/engineering

Previous experience with students (K-12)

Able to supervise groups on campus and on field trips
