Job summary

New Jersey Institute of Technology invites applications for a Science Instructor (Hourly) to support NJ Gear UP/College Bound programs. The role provides middle/high school level science instruction during Academic Year and Summer Sessions, with schedules including weekdays and occasional Saturdays.

You will help students build confidence in science while integrating reading and writing into the curriculum.

Qualifications

• Certification in the core subject area of Science.
• Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students is preferred.
• Education/experience prerequisites may be waived with an equivalent combination of education and experience that prepares the candidate for success.

Responsibilities

• Provide grade-level science instruction that aligns with standards and supports reading/writing.
• Help students develop communication, study, time management, and test-taking skills.
• Assist in preparing students for state assessments (PARCC, PSAT, SAT, ACT or successors).
• Attend staff development and submit lesson plans in a timely manner.
• Create a positive learning environment and maintain accurate student records.
