Job description

Title:
Pre-College Hourly Teaching Assistant

Position Summary:
Work as a Teaching Assistant for academic summer programsthat are run through the Center for Pre-College Programs for post 4th grade -post 11th grade students. (There are 30 Teaching Assistant Positions available).

Essential Functions:
-Supervise a group of 24 elementary, middle, or high schoolstudents while on campus and on off-campus field trips.
-Assist classroominstructors in activities related to students' academic development andenrichment in mathematics, communications, computers science, and engineering.
-Monitor students' behavior in and outside of the classroom and modelappropriate behavior for students.
-Assist teachers in assessing studentprogress toward achieving the learning goals.
-Build positive and appropriaterelationships with students as a strong role model and mentor throughout theprogram.

Additional Functions:
-You are required to attend all general meetings withprogram directors and staff, training sessions, and clean-up dates

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Enrolled in college for Fall 2025 with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Full availability is required for all of the followingdates:
-TA Training: Wednesday, June 25th
-Preparation Days: Monday, June 30th & Tuesday, July 1st
-Program Dates: Monday, July 7th – Thursday, August 7th(Mondays–Thursdays)-Clean-Up Days: Monday, August 11th & Tuesday, August12th

-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Previous experience with elementary, middle, or high schoolstudents.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly range for this position is $15.50-$18.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
