Job summary

General Motors seeks a Controls Engineer Intern to assist maintenance personnel in operating and maintaining specialist equipment. You will gain experience in electrical root-cause analysis, problem solving, and leading technical support within the organization. Safety and ergonomics are prioritized throughout all tasks.

This onsite internship involves multiple GM plants across the U.S. with start dates on May 24th or June 14th, 2027.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Controls Engineering.
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Leads electrical projects including new or operations improvements, and periodic repair and replacement.
• Represents engineering in plant meetings to help reach performance goals.
• Develops cost estimates, investment forecasts, and plans for minor projects.
