Job summary

MoDOT is seeking a Planning LPA intern for the Southwest District Office in Springfield, MO. You will aid in administering MoDOT’s Local Public Agency program under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities include handling LPA documentation, policy updates, and coordination with staff and external parties. The role is wage-based, non-benefits eligible, with occasional statewide travel.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled full-time in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program (12+ credit hours).
  • Must have completed 30 credit hours toward current degree program; transcripts may be required to show acceptance.
  • Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Participate in policy discussions and assist with updating standard forms and guidance documents.
  • Coordinate between staff as needed and assist with consultant and contractor matters on LPA projects.

  • Conduct field visits to inspect projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full‑time (12+ credit hours).
  • 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
  • Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.

Special Working Conditions:

  • This is a wage, non-benefits eligible position, working no more than 1,039 hours per year.
  • Job may require occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
