Job summary

State of Missouri's Southwest District Office in Springfield is seeking a human resources intern to perform routine entry-level activities, researching and developing recommendations on standard personnel programs and policies under direct supervision. Responsibilities include recruiting and pre-screening, policy guidance, job analysis, and data reporting.

The role also covers compliance training, orientation programs, and basic HR administration.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
  • 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
  • Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and pre-screen applicants, including affirmative action recruiting; provide general assistance to supervisors on the interviewing/hiring process and the promotion or transfer of current employees to authorized vacancies.
  • Provide information on current policies, procedures, and guidelines as needed, assist supervisors on matters related to the administrative of personnel policies, regulations, and department programs to ensure uniform compliance.
  • Conduct job analysis on new or existing jobs; formulate recommendations on placement of the job within the salary structure; create reports using internal data systems.
  • Collect, research, summarize, and provide routine analysis of information and data related to personnel policies and human resources programs; prepare responses to questions or requests for information of limited complexity.
  • Review information, data, and forms related to equal employment opportunity and affirmative action requirements; compile data necessary for monitoring compliance and prepare related reports.
  • Conduct compliance training and employee orientation programs.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.
