Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is seeking a planning intern to support engineering projects and programs by collecting, classifying, and summarizing transportation planning data under moderate supervision. You will help compile data, maintain records, and assist in creating charts, graphs, and maps with current technology.

The role involves data entry into project history databases, potential field data collection, and summarizing data for computer processing.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
  • 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
  • Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and tabulate data used in assigned sections; calculate percentages and ratios using raw data.
  • Maintain files and records for analysis and presentation; maintain databases.
  • Assist in the preparation of charts, graphs, and maps using current technology.
  • Compile, scan and enter job data into project history database; maintain written and electronic records of historical data.
  • Collect field data and assists in preliminary analysis of data; summarize and code data for computer processing.
  • May attend public meetings to help educate the public on upcoming projects.
  • May compile and coordinate the printing and distribution of project or information booklets for distribution to federal, state and other agencies.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.
