Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in Cranberry Township, PA, offers a paid full-time hybrid Project Controls internship for May–August 2027. You will assist project engineers and controllers, report to the Long Term Operations – Engineered Solutions manager, and be based at the Cranberry facility.

Eligible students are pursuing a bachelor’s in project management or engineering, having completed sophomore year, with PMI PMBOK familiarity and nuclear power knowledge.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in project management, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Completed Sophomore year of college.
• Familiar with PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge.
• High-level technical knowledge of nuclear power plants.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and plan all controls aspects of a project, including baselines.
• Apply tools and techniques to plan work to reduce inefficiencies and optimize performance.
• Responsible for all aspects of project controls including scope, schedule, cost, risk, and earned value.
• Close project by archiving in financial, scheduling, document management, and resource systems/tools.
• Cultivate relationships with the team, customer and partners to facilitate completion.
• Implement improvement opportunities which add value.

About The Role

As a Project Controls intern, you will assist the project engineers and project controllers on the portfolio of projects. You will report to the Project Controls Long Term Operations – Engineered Solutions Manager and be located at our Cranberry facility. This is a paid full-time hybrid position for the summer, May - August 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Initiate and plan all controls aspects of a project, which includes project baselines
• Apply tools and techniques to plan work such that you reduce inefficiencies, and optimize overall project performance
• Responsible for all aspects of project controls activities including scope, schedule, cost, risk, and earned value assessment
• Close project by archiving work in financial, scheduling, document management, and resource management systems/tools
• Cultivate relationships with the team, customer, and other partners (e.g. internal management) to facilitate successful project completion
• Implement improvement opportunities which will add value

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in project management, Engineering, or related technical discipline required
• Completed Sophomore year of college
• Familiar with the Project Management Institute (PMI®)'s Project Management Body of Knowledge
• High-level technical knowledge of nuclear power plants
