Job summary

NexGen, the self-perform arm of Gray Construction, seeks two interns for Summer 2027 in its Special Projects departments. Locations are TBD, offering hands-on experience across safety, estimating, scheduling, procurement and project coordination on industrial construction projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Observe and assist with project safety efforts, including safety documentation and meetings.
• Review and organize job cost information and distribute project estimates.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and help prepare estimates, budgets, and proposals.
• Contribute to scheduling activities by updating timelines and understanding sequencing.
• Help monitor project progress by gathering data and assisting in production tracking.
• Assist with cost tracking and administrative tasks, such as reports and project files.
• Support procurement by tracking materials and equipment orders and inventory.
• Learn change order processes and logging of requests.
• Coordinate communication with general contractors and owners under supervision.
• Assist in preparing field reports with labor hours, productivity, and usage data.
• Follow company policies and industry standards to support compliance and quality.
• Must have reliable transportation.
