Traveling Steel Construction Intern

Job summary

Gray, via NexGen, is looking to add two interns to its Steel Department for Summer 2027. Locations are TBD. NexGen Contracting, the self-perform arm of Gray, operates as a turnkey partner with a focus on concrete, steel, millwright and finishes.

As an intern, you will work with Project Management and Field Operations to gain hands-on experience in industrial construction, safety, scheduling, procurement, and project coordination, while supporting lifecycle activities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong organizational skills and effective communication.
• Willingness to travel and ability to work in both office and job site environments.

Responsibilities

• Support project lifecycle activities including safety management, scheduling, procurement, and coordination.
• Assist with cost tracking, quantity takeoffs, and preparation of project estimates and reports.
• Contribute to field reports and data gathering to monitor progress.
