Job summary

NexGen Contracting, the self-perform arm of Gray Construction, offers Summer 2027 internships in the Concrete, Steel, MEP, Safety and In-Plant Services divisions. Locations are TBD; interns will work with Project Management and Field Operations teams on real projects in office and job site environments.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong organizational skills with effective communication.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Comfortable working in both office and job site environments.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Observe and assist with project safety efforts and safety meetings.
• Support review and organization of job cost information and distribute estimates.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and help prepare estimates, budgets, and proposals.
• Contribute to scheduling by updating timelines and learning sequencing processes.
• Help monitor project progress by gathering data and assisting in production tracking.
• Assist with cost tracking and administrative tasks, such as organizing project files.
• Support procurement activities by tracking material orders, deliveries, and inventory.
• Learn to assist with change order processes, including logging and organizing change requests.
• Help coordinate communication with general contractors and owners under close supervision.
• Assist in preparing field reports, tracking labor hours, productivity, material usage, and safety observations.
• Learn and follow company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
