Job summary

University Center is seeking an Housing Operations Manager to oversee the summer housing program and related operations. You will review contracts, coordinate move-in/move-out, manage occupancy plans, and lead the Guest Service Intern program.

The role requires one year of related experience, familiarity with StarRez, and strong customer service, communication, and leadership skills in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or high school graduate with minimum one-year related experience.
• Experience in hotel reservations, sales, or operations.
• University housing operations or assignments experience desirable.
• Direct oversight of collegiate summer housing or conference programs desired.
• Familiarity with StarRez strongly preferred.
• Previous supervisory, training, or scheduling experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service and professionalism.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work with a diverse range of students and staff.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
• Computer literacy with MS Office; learn new software as needed.
• Willingness to obtain Illinois Leasing license within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations and ensure efficient management of the summer housing program.
• Review group housing contracts for arrivals/departures, guest counts, unit type, rates, and meal plans.
• Create notices, forms, billing reminders, and announcements for residents and clients.
• Assist in planning move-in/move-out for summer and academic terms; flexible shifts required.
• Establish occupancy and assignment plans with Sales and Leasing teams.
• Recruit, train, and manage Guest Service Intern program.
• Develop and maintain summer housing training.
• Coordinate unit turnover, linen, and amenity setup.
• Maintain StarRez data and resident files; ensure records are up to date.
• Provide customer service and upsell housing services when applicable.
• Monitor expenses and process statements as needed.
• Manage accounts in the housing system and communicate with clients.
