Job summary

Austin Bridge & Road, part of Austin Industries, offers a paid 12-week Summer Heavy Civil Safety Internship in the Dallas/Fort Worth/North Texas area. The program runs May 17, 2027 to August 6, 2027 and reports to a project team on the assigned site.

As a Project Safety Intern, you will gain hands-on safety management experience on heavy civil projects, participate in inspections, trainings, and safety meetings, and contribute to a culture of safety among employee-owners.

Qualifications

• Active junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Safety, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Targeted graduation date between August 2027 and December 2028.
• Able to work up to 40 hours per week and commute onsite.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily jobsite walkthroughs to identify safety hazards.
• Assist with safety inspections, audits, and reviews on active projects.
• Support incident investigations and prepare reports.
• Participate in weekly project safety meetings and document outcomes.
• Help develop and deliver safety trainings, orientations, and toolbox talks.
• Monitor PPE use and promote safe work practices on site.
