Job summary

Butterball, LLC. is offering a 10–12 week Summer Food Safety and Quality Assurance Intern program at the Mount Olive, NC processing plant. The intern will assist FSQA and Operations to validate antimicrobial interventions, collect data, and support GMP-compliant processes.

The role emphasizes data collection, trend analysis, and collaboration with Laboratory staff, with a focus on professional development and exposure to food safety regulations and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Safety, biological sciences or related field with an expected graduation date December 2027 through June 2029.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work.
• Demonstrated ability with Excel formulas to extract, organize and report data.
• Strong interpersonal and relational skills.
• Active campus or community involvement is a plus.
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions (cold, hot, wet).
• Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs as required.
• Standard shift during the day; some off-hours work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Validate antimicrobial intervention efficacy with FSQA and Operations.
• Collect data, monitor quality metrics, and communicate results.
• Coordinate sample collection with FSQA and Operations teams.
• Collaborate with Laboratory staff on sampling and analysis processes.
• Record and report data and results.
• Support teams to ensure manufacturing processes are GMP-compliant.
