Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Summer High School Intern to pursue a career as a CAD Technologist. You will learn to create and modify mechanical models and drawings using Creo and SolidWorks, applying GD&T tolerancing to convey engineering intent.

As a part-time, temporary on-site role, you will work under a staff mentor and engage in multiple CAD activities, updating models per engineering changes and supporting product definition efforts during the summer break.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a local high school and living nearby if under 18.
• Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0.
• Able to work up to 40 hours per week during summer.
• Minimum 16 years of age.
• U.S. citizens or eligible residents.

Responsibilities

• Learn or increase understanding of model and drawing creation using CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks).
• Create and modify mechanical models and drawings using CAD software, incorporating GD&T-based tolerancing.
• Learn part-defining definition methods and product definition requirements.
• Update models and drawings per engineering change orders.
• Assist with other projects as assigned by a staff mentor.
