Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks an Experienced Computer Aided Design Technologist to join the Design Engineer Group onsite in New Mexico. This role focuses on transforming customer concepts into detailed product definitions for national security projects, leveraging advanced CAD tools and GD&T expertise.

You will design 3D models and drawings, lead design activities, and collaborate across design, engineering, and R&D teams to ensure manufacturability and performance of complex systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with 3 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
• Experience using CAD software for complex 3D solid modeling and drawing generation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify and evaluate detailed 3D models and drawings using CAD software.
• Define products by translating concepts into detailed specifications for client presentations.
• Collaborate with CAD Designers, Product Design Engineers, and R&D Mechanical Engineers to integrate requirements.
• Lead teams in designing 3D models and drawings of complex objects and systems.
• Apply GD&T and tolerance analyses to ensure manufacturability and function.
