Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technologist to join the Design Engineer Group. You will transform customer concepts into detailed product definitions for national security, using CAD tools to create 3D models and precise drawings.

Onsite work is required; you’ll collaborate with CAD Designers, Product Design Engineers, and R&D Mechanical Engineers to translate requirements into manufacturable designs and drive continuous improvement in

Qualifications

Associate degree in Mechanical Drafting or equivalent.
Experience using CAD for 3D solid modeling and drawings.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Responsibilities

Create and modify detailed component and system definitions.
Design 3D models and drawings of complex objects and systems.
Define products by transforming concepts into detailed specifications.
Collaborate with CAD Designers, Product Design Engineers, and R&D Mechanical Engineers.
Utilize CAD software to develop mechanical designs and perform dimensional analyses.
Adapt designs to evolving requirements and analyze product performance data.
