Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is offering a Summer 2027 Arborist Trainee Internship in the Denver area (W. Denver, CO). This on-site position is ideal for college students seeking hands-on field experience in tree care, pruning, and client services.

Starting Summer 2027, the internship is full-time for the season with pay of $22.00 per hour. Training includes safety protocols, climbing, and tree health practices, with opportunities for advancement and industry certification support.

Qualifications

Love of the outdoors.
Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

Learn to climb trees and join a tree crew.
Progressively learn new skills in tree care and removals.
Perform pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients, including industry guidelines.
Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the canopy.
Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
Maintain and operate tools and equipment such as chainsaws and chippers.
Grow your responsibilities as you gain experience.
