Job summary

Sussex County Vocational Technical School District is seeking a Substitute - Food Service Worker at Sussex Technical High School. The role supports the cafeteria team, prepares menu items, serves students and guests, and ensures HACCP adherence.

The position is at-will and non-benefit eligible. Shifts run 7am–2pm or 10am–2pm, with a daily rate of $132.30 and an hourly rate of $18.90. Prior food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be flexible and able to work on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Follow all school policies and procedures.
• Prepare menu items according to standardized recipes.
• Set up, replenish, and break down serving lines and greet students and guests.
• Adhere to HACCP safety protocols and health regulations.
• Record internal temperatures for foods."
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, serving lines, and kitchen equipment.
• Store inventory using rotation methods.
• Work cooperatively with cafeteria staff and management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position: Substitute- Food Service Worker

Location: Sussex Technical High School

Reports To: Cafeteria Manager and Cafeteria Asst. Manager

Starting Date: As soon as mutually agreeable

Qualifications

• Minimum education of High School diploma required.
• Previous experience working in field of food service preferred.
• Flexible schedule with ability to work on short notice.
• Must be able to complete essential job functions including but not limited to:
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Lift more than 50 lbs.
  • Operate large-scale kitchen appliances
  • Work in confined spaces.

Performance Responsibilities

• Follow all school policies and procedures.
• Prepare menu items according to standardized recipes
• Set up, replenish, and break down serving lines while greeting students and guests in a friendly, welcoming manner
• Adhere to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) safety protocols and local health department regulations.
• Take and record accurate internal temperatures for cooked and stored foods.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, serving lines, and kitchen equipment
• Properly store inventory using rotation methods.
• Work cooperatively with cafeteria manageers, cooks, and staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment

At-will position. Substitutes are not employees of the school district but rather work on a day-to-day basis as needed.

Salary and Benefits

Non-benefit eligible position. Compensation is recorded in a half-days or full-days.Hours are 7am-2pmor 10am-2pm. Substitutes earn a daily rate of: $132.30/day or $18.90/hr.
