Job summary

Sussex Technical School District is seeking an Assistant Coach for Indoor Track at Sussex Technical High School. The role reports to the Head Coach and Athletic Director, focusing on planning and implementing daily practice and reinforcing safety and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities include collaborating with coaches, maintaining equipment, and communicating with parents and school staff. Applicants should demonstrate sport proficiency, strong character, understanding of academics-athletics

• Work with head coach to plan and implement organized daily practices.

• Promote positive relations with parents and the community.
• Help maintain a sportsmanlike environment and player conduct.
• Comply with HAC, DIAA and district policies.
• Assist in maintaining equipment and uniforms inventories.

• Support game preparation in strategy and player motivation.
• Oversee safety of the facility for the sport.
• Assist in communicating information to players, parents and school officials.

• Demonstrate a proficiency in the sport including governing rules, strategy, and skills.


• Possess sound moral character.


• Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the athlete, academics, and overall athletic and school program.


• Possess CPR certification and concussion protocol training or willingness to become certified.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with head coach to plans and implement organized daily practice plans


• Suggest adaptations and modifications to coaching techniques, strategies and game plans.


• Demonstrate an understanding of safety considerations for athletes.


• Work cooperatively with other coaches, athletic director, trainer, and building administration.


• Promote and maintain positive public relations with parents and the community.


• Help provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and player conduct.


• Comply with all HAC, DIAA, and school district policies.


• Help maintain inventories of all equipment and uniforms.


• Assist in recommending purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.


• Support in preparation for each game in strategy and player motivation.


• Assists in overseeing the safety of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted.


• Aid in communication of pre, post and in season information to players, parents, and school officials.


• Perform other duties as assigned that relate to this position.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary per the Sussex Technical School District and collective bargaining agreement. (Range based on position and experience is $1,435 - $3,892)
