Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Substation Technical Trainer to lead the development and delivery of classroom and field-based training for electrical substation work. The role focuses on substations, safe work practices, and consistent field execution across projects.

Responsibilities include delivering modules, coordinating labs and field evaluations, and partnering with leadership to identify training needs and ensure materials and resources are ready. Travel up to 75% is required.

Qualifications

• Advanced communication, presentation, and classroom and field training facilitation skills.
• Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional methodology, and hands-on skill evaluation.
• Working knowledge of substation construction methods, drawings, equipment, systems, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver substation-focused electrical training, including instructor-led modules, practical exercises, assessments, and performance evaluations.
• Provide technical instruction on substation construction topics such as grounding, conduit and cable systems, equipment installation, bus work, control wiring, testing support, and energization readiness.
• Partner with project leadership, field supervision, safety professionals, and subject matter experts to identify training needs and build project-specific training plans.
• Schedule and coordinate classroom instruction, online learning, hands-on labs, and field evaluations for electrical team members supporting substation work.
