Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking a skilled Technician to support our Transmission and Distribution substation operations in Indiana. The role focuses on testing, calibration of relays, and programming voltage controls to ensure system reliability and safety.

The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of hands-on experience with substation equipment, SCADA familiarity, and a BET/AET equivalent education. This position offers full-time hours with a competitive benefits package in the US.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
• Knowledge of 3-phase power systems, power system protection & control schemes, test equipment, and test equipment software.
• Skills in test equipment and tool/wiring usage, interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams, basic test skills, and basic PC skills.
• Ability to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment.
• Education: BET or AET

Responsibilities

• Conduct testing and routine maintenance of substation relaying (electro-mechanical, solid state, and microprocessor types), control systems, and voltage regulation equipment.
• Calibrate protective relays and apply relay settings according to standards and operational requirements.
• Program Load Tap Changing (LTC) and voltage regulator controllers.
• Perform troubleshooting and repairs on substation relays and control devices within distribution substations.
• Plan and execute testing activities efficiently, adhering to schedules while ensuring service continuity.
• Maintain accurate documentation of testing procedures, results, and equipment configurations.
