Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking a Commissioning Technician III to support client teams across utility substation protection, control and power circuits. The role requires planning, testing, documentation, and travel to jobsites while ensuring safety and compliance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in testing/commissioning, strong diagram literacy, and knowledge of protection systems. The position involves out-of-town travel, flexible hours, and client communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years related experience with testing and commissioning services.
• Ability to read and understand construction/manufacturer drawings and specs.
• Knowledge of electrical protection systems incl. relays.
• Must have US work eligibility and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, perform and document commissioning activities for substation protection and power circuits.
• Review wiring diagrams and engineering documents prior to projects.
• Troubleshoot protection and control systems and equipment.
• Participate in project meetings and prepare test documentation.
• Develop testing/commissioning plans and energization plans.
• Identify risks and create Site Risk Assessments; ensure safe isolation and restoration.
• Ensure tests are performed and results recorded.
• Develop and approve detailed test reports.
