Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. seeks a skilled Technician to support Transmission and Distribution substation operations, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with standards while working on relays, control systems, and voltage regulation equipment.

This role requires 1–3 years of commissioning experience, knowledge of 3-phase power systems, and the ability to learn test procedures. We offer a competitive benefits package and opportunities to grow within a global environmental and engineering

Qualifications

1-3 years commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
Knowledge of 3-phase power systems, power system protection & control schemes, test equipment, and test equipment software.
Skills in test equipment and tool/wiring usage, interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams, basic test skills, and basic PC skills.
Ability to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment.
Education: BET or AET.

Responsibilities

Test and maintain substation relaying, control systems, and voltage regulation equipment.
Calibrate protective relays and set relay settings per standards.
Program Load Tap Changing (LTC) and voltage regulator controllers.
Troubleshoot and repair relays and control devices in substations.
Plan and execute testing activities while maintaining service continuity.
Document testing procedures, results, and equipment configurations.
